i’ve always had a tendency towards watching taiwanese celebrity tv series (偶像劇), which often are criticized as having a cast of no talent in acting whatsoever and merely “pretty faces” for the audience to drool over. i’m sad to admit that half the time, i watch for the exact reason.. Taiwan does need a stricter system of quality entertainment! Despite all of this…

Do not lose hope taiwanese! There is one exception! The special case where talent&good looks blend into one. Can you say love?! Which is the last series that brought you tears of joy or sadness? or truly touched you? Or displays such real emotional struggles…

dear world, today’s disappointing episode just reminds me that i have to take myself out of constant dwellings in one mudpond and learn to swim so i can go play in the biggg ocean! this summer will be a huge change for me, i can see it already. im going to be stronger, inside and out. im sure i have the time for this kind of personal developments and when i come back,

PERIOD.
so thuy and i have this little contest one day out of the blue- that within the period of 24 hours we cannot do our usual make-fun-of-each-other-until-we-drop/lock each other out/ sarcastic remarks routine. which i’ve come to find is absolutely subconscious and impossible to control.
so i lost, because she asked for a napkin and i did the little jerk my hands upwards when i was giving it to her. completely unintended D:.
so what’s the punishment?
they had so much fun coming up with punishments, especially because there are so many things that i am sensitive to. such as my hatred for bananas (today i found that it’s a natural source of background radiation of potassium -40! i knew i hated it for a reason. haha), my daily makeup routine, absolute zero tolerance for spiciness…etc. whereas thuy’s potential punishment wouldve been to give up her beloved coffee for two days and to wear her pjs around.
so… here’s what i had to do…

the spicy chicken isn’t actually HORRIBLE. but it took forever just to gulp down one with the help of boba milk tea. in the end, it’s really just exposure to explosive spiciness. maybe one of these days i can join my roomies in adding sriracha sauce onto every existing food item…

and 2) walk around the whole day without putting on makeup, which is bearable and thank god i didnt get any of the “you look so tired” remark. really, i prefer walking around with eye makeup on but i dont mind so much going without ;D

on an end note! say hello to my tormentors melanie and thuy. yes, on a daily basis.

thuy:” i dont know what you’re talking about, we look like angels”

… you’s a liar.

but really, from the bottom of my heart, i am grateful to have roomies such as them so hence the title of this post, with all sincerity.

living proof that ordinary college students (they were once just like us, freshmen with a map, walking around UCSD not knowing what they want in life) can dedicate themselves to success in work, fun, and everything in between. it doesnt take hope, faith, or pixiedust – a little creativity, humor, and teamwork – not to mention talent! and interest. it really doesn’t take knowing multiple languages, taking all them motherhard science classes, or seemingly hundreds-of-pages-long hum essays to live life doing what we love.

so here’s to wongfu! you guys are awesome ♥ keep up the good work!

i can’t believe 星光大道 this season stressed singer image.
Susan Boyle from Britain’s Got Talent is absolutely amazing. she didn’t just “Dreamed a Dream”. She did it!

reminds us how superficial this world is. i mean, really, the “biggest surprise? what would it be? her age? appearance? demeanor? is there a set image of what a singer should look like? should they be turning heads with their looks or voice? Susan Boyle really takes inner beauty to an entirely new level. the last time i felt so stunned hearing someone sing was when Nick Pitera burst into song with the Little Mermaid – Part of Your World.

just keep singing, singing, singing…what do we do? we sing sing.. sing.

new quarter brings a new start! now more than ever i’d like to really grasp the idea of carpe diem. in humanities we discuss the whole idea of an apocalyptic renewal and sitting there im just thinking, if i could start over, what would i tell myself to change? what are my biggest regrets? my dad speaks of his friend who, when interviewed, says that if he were given a chance to start anew, there would be nothing he’d change because his life brings himself just that much contentment. i wish i were that man.

i’d like to dedicate myself to a worthwhile cause, to reach out of this frozen shell.
